Weddings at the Museum

While we give our couples the opportunity to select their own vendors, we do have those that we have seen in action and found to be reliable and excellent in their craft. Ask us for the list in the introduction packet. Additionally, as an extra service to our couples, we offer all inclusive packages. Preferred Vendors List

A 30% non-refundable retainer fee holds your contracted weekend. The balance and proof of insurance for your event are due in full 30 days before your wedding date. If you desire a payment arrangement, monthly or quarterly payments can be arranged.

We try to keep it simple and straightforward.

• Absolutely no fireworks, sparklers, or candles of any type within 100 feet of the property. A designated smoking area will be provided.
• Flowers (i.e., petals tossed) will be biodegradable).
• Send-off will be biodegradable or easily disposed of materials.
• All decorations will be self-standing. ABSOLUTELY nothing on the walls of the museum. See venue owners if clarification is needed.

YES! We have two of the best. They also have put together inclusive packages-one that features nearly every service from start to finish and another that offers day of event planning and decorating.

The legal language is in the contract, but here is the answer for people who are not legal experts (like us!). Your deposit is non-refundable as we are committing to you the entire weekend exclusively. If you cancel your wedding before 3 months of the event, we will not expect the balance of your contract. Also, we want you to feel confident in reserving with us. We own the property and are within zoning codes, so the likelihood of us closing our doors is negligible. However, the pandemic taught all of us that it is not always exclusively our decision Therefore our updated policy includes the following clause: If a situation arises where the wedding cannot take place due to outside forces not related to the venue or the clients (i.e. gov’t lockdown, act of war, hurricane, etc), we will reschedule event to another weekend at no additional cost to you.

The short answer is yes, but there are details so read carefully. Pope’s Museum LLC is located in a zoning area that allows the couple to bring their own alcohol, so yes you can bring. You must have a specified person in charge of alcohol that supervises and ensures that both the law and decorum are maintained. No minors are to be served, and no excessive drinking is allowed. Our family, including the security that comes with your contract, and a licensed bartender is the way to achieve this. Pope’s Museum security has the authority to remove excessive alcohol and excessive drinkers for the safety of all guests and the property.

As a site on the National Register of Historic Places, Historic Preservation standards are required by the U.S. Sec of Interior. Therefore, some parts of the museum are not ADA-compliant. Adaptations are possible in some areas. We have had events here where motorized wheelchairs have been able to be involved in the wedding and reception.

6-18 months is suggested, but if it is outside of that time frame, couples are encouraged to reach out to see if their preferred date is available.

There are several optional sites for you to choose from here at Pope’s Museum. As you have exclusive use of the venue during your contracted time, you can plan for various setups for both your wedding and reception. Weddings and receptions both under the stars and under chandeliered tents have taken place in the open meadow behind the museum. Weddings and receptions have taken place in the 999-square-foot covered portico. Lastly, Cupid’s Room with the split staircase has been the site of weddings and receptions for decades. Our family is dedicated to serving you and will partner with your team of professionals to create an elegant and joyous event.

Yes! The Bridal cottage is perfect for the bride and her attendants to get ready. For those reserving the weekend package, it is also a honeymoon cottage. For the groom and groomsmen, the loft of the museum includes leather furniture, a large screen TV, Firestick, a PS4 game system, and an exclusive refrigerator for their use.

At 10:00 all music must be off and vendors must be cleaned up. At 11:00 all guests not staying on site must be gone. This policy will be strictly enforced.
